About Dimple

The smile behind every sip

A row of bottles in my room at Stanly Ranch. Some I couldn't name — just labels. Others I recognized — big Napa names. I'd even visited a few. Taken the photos. Had the tastings.

But honestly, I knew almost nothing about any of them.

Then everything shifted.

HdV. Three Chardonnays, same vineyard. The one with zero oak had the most butter — oak doesn't add flavor, it reorganizes how you taste everything. The host pulled a 2016. Smelled like leather. Tasted impossibly alive.

That evening I opened a Domaine de Villaine Chardonnay at dinner — same family's winemaking philosophy, same grape, but grown in Burgundy soil. The California glass had butter and power. The French glass: pear blossom, umami, light as silk.

Same philosophy. Different land. Entirely different wine.

I smiled. Not the polite kind.

Annie Favia learned viticulture from Cathy Corison. Andy Erickson forged his craft at Harlan Estate. Their new winery rises on the Huneeus family's Oakville land. Jack Cakebread brought Scott Becker into wine at Harvard. Scott reshaped Realm.

Mentorship. Land. Philosophy. Passed down through generations.

Every bottle connects to another. Every person connects to another.

That web is Napa.

I was captivated by the patterns. Terroir connections. Palate evolution. Stories flowing between people and land.

So I built Dimple.
